Connections advised it is their intention to have TEEPOH (P. Hammersley) ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse raced in a rearward position.
WINNING MOMENTS was declared a late scratching at 1.32 p.m. by stewards acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on WINNING MOMENTS be refunded with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply. Trainer W. Baker was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for WINNING MOMENTS before it races again.
RUSTY TRAWLER (E. Wilkinson) was tightened for room on jumping away between NEYTIRI (J. Wood) and TEEPOH, both of which shifted ground.

Stewards Report Extract : SHE'S CANDY was declared a late scratching at 12.52 p.m. after the horse was injured en route to the track.
Apprentice O. Turpin, the rider of TYCOON STELLA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that a short distance after the start he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of STAR GIGGLE (Matthew Palmer), resulting in that horse being taken in on to FLYING ARCHANGEL (B. Stewart), which in turn was taken in on to IVORS GIRL (D. Browne), which had to be checked. Apprentice O. Turpin's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 20 March, and expire at midnight on Thursday, 31 March 2011.
STARLISTIC (L. Cassidy) raced three wide throughout.
Approaching the 300m HAVEN PRINCESS (J. Wood) shifted out making contact with FLYING ARCHANGEL (B. Stewart).
TWENTY TWO CARAT (J. Bowditch) was held up for clear running until a point nearing the 200m.
Stewards sought an explanation from J. Holder in respect to the seemingly disappointing performance of his mount TIYATRO. J. Holder stated that TIYATRO enjoyed a nice run behind the leaders and whilst he was held up in the early part of the straight and disappointed for a run to the inside of STARLISTIC near the 300m, he was quite disappointed in the filly's effort over the concluding stages after having obtained clear running. J. Holder advised stewards that after discussions with trainer T. Gollan he was of the view that the addition of blinkers at the horse's next start may be of benefit.
A post-race veterinary examination of HEART SCENT (G. Colless) revealed the filly had sustained lacerations to the off hind leg, consistent with being galloped on, and had lost its off hind plate.
A post-race veterinary examination of LONELY GIRL (C. Munce), which tailed off, revealed no abnormality. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that LONELY GIRL must barrier trial prior to its next start.

Stewards sought an explanation from trainer L. Birchley in respect of the seemingly improved performance of TEZUMA. Mr Birchley explained that at its most recent start TEZUMA failed to handle the prevailing track conditions and is much more effective on firmer surfaces.

Byrne stated that approaching the first turn he was forced to race in restricted room when LUGHAAT (Matthew Palmer) improved to the inside of HAWKS PRIDE. As a result, J. Byrne felt it best to relinquish that position and provide his mount with suitable racing room. This, however, resulted in him settling further back than he would have liked. J. Byrne added that he was able to improve his position rounding the home turn and the horse finished the race off well over the concluding stages.

When questioned regarding the performance of BAA BAA JET, apprentice Michael Palmer stated that the horse travelled comfortably throughout, however when asked for an effort upon straightening the filly failed to accelerate and was quite dour in the run to the finish. Trainer C. Williamson expressed his disappointment in the performance of BAA BAA JET and indicated to stewards he would now give consideration to spelling the filly.

Byrne stated that he secured a nice run throughout the race, however ACCOUNTING did not accelerate when asked for an effort and proved disappointing in the run to the line. Stable representative M. Thompson was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance and undertook to report to stewards anything that becomes apparent in coming days that may have had an effect on the performance. A post-race veterinary examination of ACCOUNTING revealed no significant abnormalities.
