Stewards Report Extract : Trainer C. Jordan was reprimanded under LR. 42 for failing to complete full details on his stable return relating to the colours worn by OLIGARCH.
TIMELY SURPRISE (Michael Palmer) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 800m OLIGARCH (L. Cassidy) was momentarily tightened for room when racing to the inside of AMBER ALE (C. Munce), which shifted in and away from LATIN AMERICAN (R. McMahon).
OLIGARCH raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight.
LATIN AMERICAN and ASTRALON (J. Wood) came together and bumped on two occasions rounding the home turn.

Approaching the 1100m BELLAVONANE (B. Wallace) was tightened for room and had to be steadied when racing to the inside of LUCKILY (C. Munce) which shifted in and away from RENAKA (B. Stewart) when crowded for room by that runner. B. Stewart was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Stewards Report Extract : NO IDENTITY (S. Seamer) appeared to lose its footing and knuckled over at the start.
ASIDE (P. Hammersley) was tightened on jumping away between LOOKLOOK (S. Scriven) and ONAROHL (M. Hellyer), both of which shifted ground.
DRAG QUEEN (K. Wharton) bucked shortly after the start, resulting in the horse being subsequently retired from the event. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that DRAG QUEEN must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before again racing.
Approaching the first turn at the 1400m ASIDE, which had a tendency to lay out, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ONAROHL, which shifted in.
MARIA ROSA (J. Kropp) raced wide throughout.
DEGREE OF HONOUR (L. Cassidy) and ZEDITAVE PLUS (Matthew Palmer) both had a tendency to lay in in the early stages of the straight.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of NO IDENTITY, S. Seamer stated that after the horse began awkwardly it failed to stretch out and he was concerned with the horse's action in the early stages. A veterinary examination of NO IDENTITY found only two small lacerations on the hind legs of the horse. Trainer A. Bailey advised that it is his intention to have further veterinary tests carried out on NO IDENTITY. Stewards will liaise with Mr Bailey regarding the results of those tests.
Stewards questioned C. Munce regarding his riding of SILVER TONGUE between the 300m and the 150m. C. Munce said that the horse was under pressure rounding the turn and approaching that point he was crowded for room between ZEDITAVE PLUS and LOOKLOOK and felt that the horse had come to the end of its run and as a result he stopped riding the horse along, however approaching the 150m he commenced to urge the horse forward again as it appeared to regain its balance.
Following the running of this event the track was further downgraded to HEAVY 9, retrospective to this race.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of IL CARDINALE, D. Browne stated that in his opinion the horse, although it had raced previously on rain-affected tracks, did not handle today's conditions. He added that the fact that the horse was having its second run back from a spell may have been a contributing factor to the horse racing below expectations.
J. Taylor, the rider of BAY CITY KITTY, was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of that mare. J. Taylor stated that the horse travelled comfortably in the early stages of the event but when placed under pressure appeared to struggle in the going. Trainer G. Hutchesson advised that the horse was to be spelled.
