Wood) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PUNCH ON, which shifted in when not fully clear. M. Cahill, the rider of PUNCH ON, was advised to afford more clearance to his fellow riders in future.

Near the 700m PRECIOUS SHADOW (M. Hellyer) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FLYING INDY (B. El-Issa) when not fully clear. B. El-Issa was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

RED ROYAL (C. Munce) raced wide for a major part of the event.

SLYSERA (J. Byrne) raced three wide to a point near the 600m where it crossed to the position outside the leader PUNCH ON.

VANCOUVER GOLD hung out rounding the home turn and as a result shifted wider on the track.

FLYING INDY hung out when placed under pressure over the final 400m.

Stewards sought an explanation from C. Munce regarding the performance of RED ROYAL. C. Munce explained that he did not have sufficient speed in the early stages to take up a forward position and was forced to race wide, however the colt failed to finish the race off in the home straight as he expected and in his view was slightly disappointing. C. Munce added that RED ROYAL will be better suited in races of a further distance than today's. Trainer B. Guy agreed with the assessment of jockey Munce in that RED ROYAL will be better suited in races of 1200m and further and it was his intention now to send the colt for a spell.

A post-race veterinary examination of DAT PUFF (K. Pope) revealed the horse had shifted a near fore plate in running.

HOLLYWOOD AND VINE (D. Browne), which was following, also had to be checked to avoid the heels of NEWSNIGHT.

After passing the 400m DEMANDING MISS (M. CATALLION again had difficulty obtaining clear running inside the final 100m when attempting a narrow run between WILL IMPRESS (J. Taylor) and THREE SWALLOWS (R. Hinricks).

After passing the 200m NEWSNIGHT altered course to the outside of the heels of MOTOWN LADY in order to improve, resulting in MUSASHI OF MIEKO having to be momentarily steadied when weakening.

Gayler had indicated that he was satisfied for the horse to race without a tongue tie when it had been dislodged during the preliminary, and was fined $300.

Hinricks), MYSTICAL GREY (E. Wilkinson) and VERRIDON (S. Seamer) were all forced to race in restricted room for a short distance to the insode of FRIDAY NIGHTS, which shifted in. VERRIDON then commenced to overrace and had to be steadied fro the heels of FRIDAY NIGHTS passing the 1000m.

Near the 200m ABSENT FRIENDS, when attempting to secure clear running to the outside of FLEET 'N' FAST (R. Browne reported that when he steadied GUNDY SON across the heels of TEARY EYED (J. Wood) in the early stages to take a position closer to the fence, his saddle shifted forward over the horse's wither, which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event and as a result near the 800m he was obliged to shift out around the heels of GOD'S HAND (M. Cahill) and allow the horse to stride forward from that point on. As a consequence of GUNDY SON's outward movement, TEARY EYED was forced wider on the track.

SLEEK REPEAT (Michael Palmer) and BEFORE THE STORM (S. Bogenhuber) raced wide throughout.

Upon entering the straight DIGGING DEEP hung out and became awkward at the heels of BEFORE THE STORM. JUST A TOUCH (B. El-Issa), which was following, had to shift to the outside of the heels of DIGGING DEEP in order to improve.

Passing the 300m PERUGIN THOUGHT (C. Munce) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so hampered SLEEK REPEAT. C. Munce was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

DIGGING DEEP was again steadied passing the 200m between SLEEK REPEAT and DANE FONTAINE (R. Wiggins), which was taken out slightly by TRISKELE (S. Galloway).

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 2, retrospective to this race.

After travelling a short distance PAPER WEIGHT (J. B. El-Issa, the rider of ATTALLUS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GRIEG, resulting in GRIEG having to be checked when tightened on to the running rail. B. El-Issa's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 meetings, to commence at the expiration of his current term of suspension expiring at midnight on Friday, 11 February, and expire at midnight on Friday, 25 February 2011.

Near the 1300m when DUEL SHOW (J. Taylor) commenced to lose some ground, LAKE GEORGE shifted three wide from a trailing position and was ridden forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1000m.

ATTALLUS shifted in under pressure inside the final 200m and near the 100m came into contact with CAPE SILVER on several occasions.

Stewards sought an explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance of BRAVE THE WAY. G. Colless stated that the horse travelled well, however when he attempted a forward move from the 600m BRAVE THE WAY was immediately under pressure and disappointed in the run to the finish. G. Colless added that he felt BRAVE THE WAY may not run out a strong 2100m. Trainer A. Bailey advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

A post-race veterinary examination of DUEL SHOW, which tired from the 800m, revealed the horse to be showing signs of having jarred up on the firm surface.

TABULATE (M. Hellyer) shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          D. Bougoure, the trainer of TOUR GUIDE, which finished towards the tail of the field, advised that the horse would be retired from racing.

Stewards sought an explanation from G. Ryan's stable representative, Mr M. Dunn, regarding the seemingly improved performance of PYRAMIDS. Mr Dunn stated that at its most recent start the horse was outpaced in the early stages and settled further back than anticipated. Mr Dunn added that the horse made steady ground in the straight on this occasion which was its first start after a short break. Mr Dunn added that today, due to the lack of speed, PYRAMIDS was able to race in a handy position and obviously took benefit from its first up performance.

MR HORNBLOWER lost its near fore plate in running.

El-Issa, the rider of GRAN TORINO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that approaching the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NUPTSE (C. Munce), resulting in NUPTSE being taken in on to the rightful running of BERNERS LEE (J. Wood), resulting in that horse having to be checked and losing its position. B. El-Issa's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 meetings, to be served concurrently with the suspension incurred in Race 5, expiring on Friday, 25 February 2011.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          J. Bowditch, the rider of SKATING ON ICE, was was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MINGTON (G. Colless), resulting in that horse having to be checked and losing its rightful running when tightened between SECRET PLEASURE (J. Byrne) and SKATING ON ICE. J. Bowditch licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 9 February, and expire following the Ipswich day meeting on Friday, 18 February 2011.

Approaching the 800m BERNERS LEE commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of SECRET PLEASURE and as a result of MINGTON being checked BERNERS LEE and FUSETTE, which were following, also had to be checked as a consequence.

STEEL ZIP (M. Radecker) and raced wide throughout.

MINGTON raced three wide until a point after passing the 600m.

Near the 700m SECRET PLEASURE, which was reluctant to hold its position to the inside of SKATING ON ICE, had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by SKATING ON ICE. J. Bowditch, the rider of SKATING ON ICE, was advised to exercise more care.

STEEL ZIP shifted out under pressure in the straight, dictating the line of SKATING ON ICE on several occasions. M. Radecker was advised that she must stop riding and straighten sooner than she had on this occasion.

Stewards sought an explanation for apprentice M. Hellyer's riding of FUSETTE rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. M. Hellyer stated that approaching the home turn he was held up on the heels of the tiring SECRET PLEASURE and was unable to improve. M. Hellyer added that whilst he would have liked to have got to the outside, DOMINI (R. Wiggins) was tiring in a three-wide position to his outside and he had to concede ground rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight in order to clear himself from that horse's heels before obtaining clear running to the outside of that runner. Apprentice Hellyer added that the horse, once clear, finished the race off very well.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          G. Colless, the rider of MINGTON, which performed below expectations, explained that the colt did not sprint as expected when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and it was his opinion that MINGTON will be better suited in races of a further distance where it can race in a forward position.

Stewards sought an explanation from J. Taylor regarding the disappointing performance of LADY MONTEL. J. Taylor explained that the filly travelled only fairly and did not finish the race off when placed under pressure and in his opinion has come to the end of its current racing preparation. Trainer D. Bell stated that in the lead up to today's event he had been pleased with the horse's work and was very disappointed with today's performance. He confirmed that LADY MONTEL would now be sent for a spell. LADY MONTEL (J. Taylor) lost its near fore plate in running.
