Stewards Report extract : Trainer M. Nolan was fined $100 failing to provide the Document of Description for MATILDA'S DANCE on presentation to the enclosure.
Trainer K. Wood was reprimanded for presenting EIGHT O'CLOCK ROCK to the enclosure with incorrect gear.
Shortly after the start, FLOWER BOWL (A. Spinks) was crowded for room between EIGHT O'CLOCK ROCK (C. Munce) and SIR SLIPPER (B. Evans), which shifted out. Soon after, SIR SLIPPER then shifted in, making contact with MATILDA'S DANCE (B. El-Issa) leaving. Leaving the 400m, LUCY LOUISE (R. Wiggins) had to be steadied after improving up on to the heels of TIYATRO (J. Byrne).
Near the 200m, EIGHT O'CLOCK ROCK shifted in and away from SIR SLIPPER and as a consequence MATILDA'S DANCE, which was racing to the inside, had to be steadied.
TIYATRO (J. Byrne) and DO AS I COMMAND (J. Holder) race wide for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding the overall performance of WHY SO EXPENSIVE, L. Cassidy stated that the horse began awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier gate, which resulted in the colt losing valuable ground. He added he was not disappointed with the overall performance of WHY SO EXPENSIVE as, in his opinion, the horse's lack of recent racing told over the final stages of the event, and that he would expect improvement in the colt.

A post race veterinary examination of SIR LISTER failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
