Race 1 Mittys Plate (3 Year Old Maiden @ Set Weights) 1500 Metres
STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT: On arrival at the barriers, at the request of the rider, PICACELEB was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
SNIPOFFTHEOLDBLOCK (B. Wallace) and CROISADE (R. Wiggins) were both hampered at the start by TUSCANARROW (C. Munce), which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.
WALTZ WITH YOU (C. Whiteley) blundered at the start.
Rounding the home turn, TEXAS FLAG (M. Wood), when hanging out, shifted out and brushed SHE KICKS (J. Wood), forcing that runner wider on the track.
PICACELEB (A. Spinks) raced 3 wide throughout.
On return to scale, M. Wood reported that TEXAS FLAG hung out for a major part of the race. A post race veterinary examination of TEXAS FLAG revealed the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. Trainer C. Dawson was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next race start.
B. El-Issa, rider of ASIDE, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii), in that he used his whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m in a forehand manner. B. El-Issa was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 4 race meetings, to commence at midnight, 5 February and to expire at midnight, 11 February 2011. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account poor record regarding this rule.
Stewards sought an explanation from D. Griffin regarding the disappointing performance of ANNIA MINOR. D. Griffin explained that he had to ride the filly aggressively to get it to travel in the early stages and from a point just prior to rounding the home turn he placed ANNIA MINOR under pressure however it failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of ANNIA MINOR failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B. Guy advised that ANNIA MINOR would now be sent for a spell.

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT : Mr C. Maund, representing trainer K. Maund, was advised that a fine of $200 would be imposed for presenting LORRIE'S FAVOURITE not shod in accordance with the rules. Due to being fractious and unable to be replated, stewards permitted LORRIE'S FAVOURITE to race bare foot behind.
GLORY CARD (M. Wood) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
SHEZAMYTH (S. Scriven) also began awkwardly.
AVOCA BELLE (D. Griffin) raced wide in the early stages to a point near the 600m.
Approaching the 1000m, AVOCA BELLE, which was overracing, had to be checked to avoid the heels of SILABELLA (B. Evans), which was being restrained to find a position closer to the fence. A short distance later, WAVERLEY MISS (L. Herne) shifted in and away from STALWART WOMAN (J. Kropp) despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in LORRIE'S FAVOURITE being tightened for room and having to be checked. LORRIE'S FAVOURITE then shifted out, taking GLORY CARD across the heels of INFAMOUS DANCER (A. Butler). As a result, GLORY CARD shifted out and bumped SHEZAMYTH. B. Evans, rider of SILABELLA, was reprimanded for restraining his mount when shifting in, which resulted D. Griffin, rider of AVOCA BELLE, having to excessively restrain his mount.
Near the 200m, INFAMOUS DANCER altered course to the inside of ARRIDAN (M. Palmer) in order to improve and in doing so shifted in abruptly and became unbalanced and lost ground. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that stewards would monitor the racing manners of INFAMOUS DANCER in its future starts.

Byrne) to improve.

Green was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness, together with the results of an ECG, would be would be required prior to the filly racing again.

A post race veterinary examination of LA CHANCE FINALE revealed the mare to be sore in the off foreleg. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that she would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for LA CHANCE FINALE prior to its next race start.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DUBAI PROSPECT, rider J. Bowditch explained that the filly never travelled well at any stage and he was concerned with its action when he placed it under pressure upon straightening . A post race veterinary examination of revealed the horse was lame in both front legs. Trainer D. Kelly advised stewards that the filly would now be spelled. STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT : After passing the 800m, IBALANCE (B. Looker) raced fiercely and had to be checked to avoid the heels of NO HALOS (M. Wood). RIVER LAD (D. Browne), which was following, also had to be checked and shifted out, forcing TUSCON RAIN (J. Wood) wider on the track.
TROOPINGTHECOLOUR (B. El-Issa) raced ungenerously passing the 1000m when being restrained.
Near the 650m, TROOPINGTHECOLOUR (B. El-Issa), when overracing, shifted in slightly to avoid the heels of RED HOT HUSSLER (R. Wiggins), which resulted in IBALANCE being tightened for room and becoming unbalanced and making contact with the running rail.
Shortly after entering the straight, TROOPINGTHECOLOUR (B. El-Issa) was disappointed for a run between RED HOT HUSSLER and NO HALOS. TROOPINGTHECOLOUR then altered course to the inside of RED HOT HUSSLER in order to improve.
TUSCON RAIN hung in under pressure over the final 200m, and inside the 100m shifted in and brushed RED HOT HUSSLER.
TUSCON RAIN raced wide throughout.
J. Bowditch, rider of SKY TRAVELLER, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b), in that he failed to ride his mount right out to the end of the race. J. Bowditch was fined $200. Stewards were satisfied that his actions did not have a material effect on the placings in the race.
When questioned regarding the performance of RIVER LAD, D. TROOPINGTHECOLOUR (B. El-Issa) raced ungenerously passing the 1000m when being restrained.
Near the 650m, TROOPINGTHECOLOUR (B. El-Issa), when overracing, shifted in slightly to avoid the heels of RED HOT HUSSLER (R. Wiggins), which resulted in IBALANCE being tightened for room and becoming unbalanced and making contact with the running rail.
Shortly after entering the straight, TROOPINGTHECOLOUR (B. El-Issa) was disappointed for a run between RED HOT HUSSLER and NO HALOS. TROOPINGTHECOLOUR then altered course to the inside of RED HOT HUSSLER in order to improve.
TUSCON RAIN hung in under pressure over the final 200m, and inside the 100m shifted in and brushed RED HOT HUSSLER.
TUSCON RAIN raced wide throughout.
J. Bowditch, rider of SKY TRAVELLER, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b), in that he failed to ride his mount right out to the end of the race. J. Bowditch was fined $200. Stewards were satisfied that his actions did not have a material effect on the placings in the race.
