Stewards Report extract : PLEASURE TIME (A. Butler) was tightened on jumping away between DOUBLE HEART (B. Wallace) and PEA EYE CEE (E. Wilkinson), which shifted out.
E. Wilkinson, the rider of PEA EYE CEE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BENJAMIN JOSH (C. Munce), resulting in that horse having to be checked. E. Wilkinson's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Friday, 24 December 2010, and expire at midnight on Saturday, 1 January 2011.
R. Wiggins retired IVY'S LEAGUE from the event near the 200m and subsequently confirmed to stewards that the horse failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. Trainer B. Smith agreed with the assessment of the rider and further indicated that IVY'S LEAGUE would be sent for an immediate spell. A veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination. In view of Mr Smith's undertaking, stewards took no further action in the matter.
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to HEAVY 8, retrospective to Race 1.

Stewards Report extract : HIRVIENTE (L. Cassidy) began awkwardly and shifted in making contact with HUBERT (J. Byrne).
MAM'SELLE ESPRIT (B. Wallace), NASTRO BLU (B. Looker) and CHEVALLUM PARK (P. Hammersley) were all tightened shortly after jumping away between SHOUTA COMMAND (J. Holder) and GYPSY HEART (G. Colless), which shifted out away from HIDDEN STAR (M. Cahill).
CHEVALLUM PARK raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event and near the 1200m shifted in abruptly making heavy contact with HUBERT.
Approaching the 650m NASTRO BLU improved up on to the heels of PROWLING HOUR (S. Seamer) and had to be steadied.
ANOTHER TITAN (C. Munce) tired badly over the final 300m of the event. Trainer H. Wilson was of the opinion that the horse failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.

Stewards Report extract : Apprentice A. Butler, the rider of OCEAN JOURNEY, was fined $100 under AR. 92(12) for failing to claim down to his riding weight.
EPHRAIM WARRIOR (S. Seamer) knuckled over at the start, dislodging S. Seamer. S. Seamer was subsequently stood down from his remaining engagement by the Club's doctor and advised that he must produce a medical clearance prior to resuming riding. A post-race veterinary examination of EPHRAIM WARRIOR revealed a laceration to the near fore heel, a small amount of blood in the nearside nostril as a result of the horse's head hitting the ground and that it had lost its near fore plate.
DIXIE LASS (C. Munce) began awkwardly.
DIXIE LASS was inclined to race ungenerously in the middle stages of the event and near the 700m shifted out making contact with VIVAHEART (L. Cheshire).

Stewards Report extract : Prior to the running of Race 4 stewards considered an application from trainer R. Heathcote to lift the heavy track bar against CAVALIERED. After considering his submissions, stewards acceded to the request and allowed the horse to start.
As B. Stewart was to be overweight, J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of CAVALIERED. B. Stewart was fined $200 under AR. 120(b).

GENTLE GIANT (E. Wilkinson) was obliged to race extremely wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 600m POINT PAIN (J. Byrne) threw its head in the air and overraced at the heels of INCANDESCENT (J. Holder).

Taylor, the rider of CAVALIERED, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that approaching the 400m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of INCANDESCENT, resulting in INCANDESCENT being tightened for room and having to be checked when racing between CAVALIERED and GENTLE GIANT. J. Taylor's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 5 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence following the Ipswich meeting on Friday, 24 December 2010, and expire following the completion of the Ipswich meeting on Friday, 31 December 2010. In considering penalty stewards took into account J. Taylor's exemplary record.
