Stewards Report extract : QUEEN NICOLE (A. Spinks) jumped away awkwardly and bumped DAYTIME DAZZLER (D. Craven).

FIVE O'CLOCK (G. Colless) jumped away awkwardly..

QUEEN NICOLE overraced in the early and middle stages at the heels of DAYTIME DAZZLER.

L. Cassidy reported that NOISY OCEAN missed the start due to inexperience, in his opinion, but finished the race off well.

G. Colless reported that FIVE O'CLOCK hung out throughout the event, placing him at a disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination of FIVE O'CLOCK revealed no significant abnormalities.

J. Byrne reported that BOREHOLE did not handle today's rain-affected surface.

A post-race veterinary examination of GRANZELLA revealed the filly to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer D. Lawlor was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for GRANZELLA before its next start.

The track was downgraded to HEAVY 9 at 12. 57 p.m.

Stewards Report : After runners had proceeded to the barriers and following concerns raised by a number of riders, stewards undertook an inspection of the track between the 800m and the 600m where there was a considerable amount of surface water which appeared had been brought to the surface as a result of the false rail being positioned in preparation for the 1000m event. Stewards deemed that section of the track unsafe for racing and ordered the field to return to the enclosure to ascertain whether the meeting could proceed if the rail at that section could be repositioned. Following a further inspection by stewards in the company of several senior riders, stewards took the decision to abandon the meeting on the basis that the track surface between the 800m and the 600m was unsafe for racing.
