HOLLY MOLLY shifted wider on the track near the 600m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
PICCOLO ROYAL (P. Schmidt) was momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
Stewards questioned apprentice M. Wood regarding the performance of TOUCH ME KNOTT. M. Wood explained that prior to the race the horse seemed agitated and overraced during the early stages, however after obtaining cover near the 700m the horse settled well but failed to run on when asked for an effort rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination of TOUCH ME KNOTT (M. Wood) revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to its near hind coronet.

Correct weight was delayed whilst stewards viewed the patrol film to ascertain whether UTZON'S VISION (C. Munce), which lost ground at the start, had been afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from jockey C. Munce and starter D. Hearn, and taking submissions from trainer L. Wheeler, stewards were of the view that UTZON'S VISION was fractious in the barriers prior to the start and reared as the start was effected and took no competitive part in the race. Stewards were satisfied that UTZON'S VISION had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared. Trainer L. Wheeler was advised that the gelding must compete in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.

Trainer M. Price agreed with jockey Bowditch's comments, however gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to light in coming days which may explain the horse's performance. A post-race veterinary examination of FAIR RISE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Kearney's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 11 December 2010, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 19 December 2010. When assessing penalty, stewards took into account C. Kearney's good riding record.

Taylor, the rider of ISTAAR, was found guilty of a charge under AR. 137(d) in that at a point leaving the 1400m, when in a leading position, she excessively steadied the speed of her mount which resulted in interference being suffered by PREACHER BOY (K. Banks), MIDNIGHT MAX, BOOFHEAD and ARABIA (C. Munce). A. Taylor's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 11 December 2010, and expire following the Ipswich day meeting on Friday, 24 December 2010.

She added that when asked for an effort near the 500m the horse did not respond as anticipated and proved disappointing in the run to the line. Trainer R. Milne stated that in his opinion the race was run to suit PREACHER BOY and added that it was his opinion that the horse had come to the end of its preparation and would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination of PREACHER BOY failed to reveal any abnormalities.

She stated that she had not instructed apprentice Bogenhuber to lead, however after improving into the lead it was her opinion that the horse was able to relax well and dictate the speed of the race and this resulted in the improved performance.
