Stewards report extract : Abalinga shifted out abruptly at the start and lost considerable ground (5L). Trainer Mr O.  Glue was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of Abalinga. 

Ellyem was slow to begin. Post race veterinary examinations of both Falvero and Golden Paddy which weakened noticeably over the final 200m did not reveal any abnormality.

Stewards Report extract : I Shuffle which was unable to be loaded into the barriers was declared a late  scratching by order of the Stewards at 2:20pm. Trainer Mr J. Shelton was told that I Shuffle must perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.


Lightning Emerald blundered at the start. 


Miss Rosie was slow to begin. 


At the start Miss Nutcracker was crowded between Sooty and Molly Can’t Vault which shifted in abruptly. 


Approaching the 200m Mooltan which had commenced to weaken after leading, became unbalanced, blundered in the heavy track conditions, fell and dislodged its rider S. Traecey. 
Molly Can’t Vault and Lightning Emerald which were following Mooltan had to steadied to avoid the fallen runner. 

S. Traecey was examined by the ambulance officers and allowed to return to the jockey’s room. 

When questioned trainer Mr G. Yorke stated that Mooltan although first up for 11 months had never had any soundness issues and had pleased him leading into the event. He added that he now intended to start the gelding on a firmer surface and undertook to report on the condition of Mooltan in the ensuing days.
 A post race veterinary examination of Mooltan did not reveal any obvious abnormality.

 A post race veterinary examination of Lightning Emerald which tailed off did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr F. Dichiera was told that Lightning Emerald must prove  its competitiveness in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.

Stewards Report extract : Electric Eagle jumped very awkwardly losing ground. 

Renmark was hampered  shortly after the start when Sasso shifted out. 

When the pace slackened near the 1300m Urased a Star had to be continually steadied away from the heels of Kaybee.

 M. Okada(a) (Eye Might) accidentally dropped his whip near the 400m.

Stewards Report extract : Area Fiftyone was crowded at the start between Pretty Tess which began  awkwardly and shifted in and Forza Potenza which shifted out. 

Pamela’s Wonder overraced in the early stages. Little Jessie blundered near the 600m and became unbalanced. 

Pretty Tess was held up on the heels of On Credit rounding the home turn and was unable to improve until passing the 250m. 

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on Sweetrocking, rider A. Chau stated that he was instructed to obtain cover back in the field however after the gelding began well from its wide barrier he elected to obtain a forward  position outside the leader. He stated that Sweetrocking commenced to overrace passing the 1200m however he was able to settle the gelding until approaching the 800m where his mount commenced to pull hard and would not settle despite his efforts.  

Following the running of this race a number of jockeys expressed concerns with the racing surface between the 700m and the 400m. Stewards inspected this section of track and found the surface to be damaged noticeably and ordered that some remedial work be done which included rolling of the surface.

Stewards Report Extract : After S. Traecey became indisposed due to a fall in race 2, Stewards permitted  A. Chau to replace him on Baggy Pants.

 All Misty was slow to begin. 

Approaching the 1200m Mrs Macular commenced to buck and continued to until passing the 1100m losing considerable ground. Trainer Mr D. Bowen was told that Mrs Macular must perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.

Stewards Report Extract : Prior to the running of this race Snowshoe cast it’s off hind plate and was too  fractious to be replated. Snowshoe was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 4:39pm.  

Flouncing stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground (8L). Trainer Mr S. Lee was told that Flouncing must perform to the Stewards satisfaction in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again. 

Eternal Love was slow to begin. 

Near the 1000m Martha Say had to be eased away from the heels of Peep (A. Chau) which shifted in when not quite clear. A. Chau was told to exercise greater care in future. 


Near the 150m Eternal Love improved onto the heels of Peep and had to be shifted in to continue into clear running. Inside the 100m Eternal Love shifted out slightly and bumped with the weakening Peep which became unbalanced.  

Following the running of this race, after a substantial downpour of rain, a track inspection was conducted by Stewards and racecourse officials. As surface 
 water was found on sections of the track the remaining three races were abandoned as the stewards deemed the conditions unsafe to continue racing.
