Stewards Report extract : MISS COOLMORE (D. McWhinney) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Stewards questioned apprentice D. McWhinney regarding the tactics adopted on MISS COOLMORE, which raced 3 and 4 wide for the majority of the race. Apprentice McWhinney stated that his instructions were to position the horse where it was comfortable but not to lead. Whilst stewards noted that apprentice McWhinney was riding to instructions, they did however inform him that when circumstances in a race change he would be expected to take the initiative and adopt other tactics, which in this case would be to progress forward rather than race 3 wide.

Stewards Report extract : Near the 250m, ROYAL HOPE shifted out under pressure and bumped LEICA LION (S. Wiseman).
LEICA LION raced wide for the majority of the event.
Stewards questioned apprentice D. Wiseman regarding her riding tactics on LEICA LION, which saw the gelding race 3 wide for the majority of the race. Apprentice Wiseman stated that her instructions were to obtain a position one wide if possible, however agreed with the stewards' assessment that she should have either persevered to obtain a more forward position or restrain her mount to a trailing position in the small field. After taking into account apprentice Wiseman's relative inexperience, stewards took no further action other than to advise her that she would be expected to show more initiative in similar circumstances.

Stewards Report extract : Jockeys K. Wharton and M. Hughes were both reprimanded for failing to comply with the requirement under AR175(p), which resulted in both riders being late leaving the jockeys' room.
BAG THE PROFIT (D. Griffin) was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers after there was concern with the horse's action. However after an inspection, BAG THE PROFIT was cleared to race.
M. Morris, rider of CACHACA, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in approaching the 1200m when insufficiently clear of MACEDON (D. Browne), resulting in MACEDON and NO SHACKLES (K. Wharton) being tightened for room. M. Morris was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 5 December and to expire at the conclusion of the Ipswich Turf Club meeting on 12 December 2010.

Stewards Report extract : RUTH THE BOSS, BOOM SAGA (J. Piper), TOPSYND (O. Turpin) and MORINGA'S SUNDANCE (M. Morris) had to be steadied approaching the 1300m when the pace of the race steadied. Apprentice B. Wallace, rider of DESTINY PREVAILS, was reprimanded for the manner in which he steadied the pace of the race at this stage.
Leaving the 1300m, VAGUELY IRISH (K. Sawyers) raced ungenerously for a short distance.
BOOM SAGA (J. Piper) overraced badly in the middle stages of the race and in an endeavour to settle the horse, the rider moved the gelding to a 3 wide position near the 900m.
Over the final 200m, ICE APPLE (E. Wilkinson) had a tendency to shift out when placed under pressure, inconveniencing EDDIE (J. Kropp).
Correct weight was delayed to enable the connections of the 2nd placegetter, EDDIE, to view the film of the race to establish if there were grounds to lodge a protest against the winner, ICE APPLE, as well as to give N. Thomas, rider of the 4th placegetter, STAND AND CHEER, the opportunity to view the film to ascertain if he had grounds for protest against the 2nd placegetter, EDDIE. After viewing the films, and taking into account the margins involved, connections of both parties did not wish to proceed and therefore correct weight was semaphored on the Judge's placings.

Approaching the 600m, KWILA SUNRISE (K. Pope) improved up on to the heels of COUNT IGLESIA (T. Huxham) and shifted out, taking ENTERPRISE STAR (M. Wood) wider on the track. ENTERPRISE STAR was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the race.
Leaving the 1500m, KILANTE (B. Wallace) improved up on to the heels of KWILA SUNRISE (K. Pope) and had to be steadied. REAL WORLD, which was trailing, also had to be steadied as a consequence.
Near the 1300m, ENTERPRISE STAR (M. Wood) raced ungenerously for a short distance when steadied. BEJEKA (R. Wiggins), which was trailing, was inconvenienced.

Apprentice Wallace stated that after beginning well, he took up a position on the rails, however settled further back than anticipated, and due to the slow tempo, KILANTE commenced to overrace in the middle stages, and as a result the gelding was unable to sprint over the concluding stages of the race. Trainer T. Hess advised that KILANTE is a one-pace type of horse and he felt that the tempo of the race did not suit the horse's racing style. A post-race veterinary examination of KILANTE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities at the time of examination.
