Stewards Report extract : Following 25mm of rain overnight and a total of 140mm for the week, and the forecast of a chance of storms, today's meeting was transferred to the cushion track. As a result of this, the distance for Race 7 was changed from 1300m to 1100m, and Race 8 from 1200m to 1100m.
Trainer K. Stabe was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare M. Hellyer as the rider of SKILFUL RAIN by the prescribed time.

Stewards Report extract : M. Hughes, who was dislodged from DENS ERA in the mounting yard, was examined by the Club doctor and paramedics and cleared to take his ride.
Trainer K. Birse was advised that a warning was being placed on the pre-race behaviour of KILWINNING OPTION (R. Wiggins) which was reluctant to proceed to the gates.
The start of this race was delayed when DENS ERA had to be resaddled, and further delayed when DENS ERA became fractious in the gates and was removed. Following a veterinary inspection, DENS ERA was declared a late scratching at 1.08 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice. KILWINNING OPTION, which was in the adjoining stall, also underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Trainer R. Bradshaw's stable representative was advised that DENS ERA must compete in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.
